DECHEMA/VDI Conference on High-Pressure Process Engineering
2026/02/25
The annual coference of the DECHEMA/VDI specialist group on High-Pressure Process Engineering took place from 25th to 26th February 2026 at Graz University of Technology.
At the annual conference, the current state of research in the field of high-pressure process engineering was presented. The conference was opened by Roland Span with the plenary lecture “Thermodynamic Properties of Hydrogen for Transport and Liquefaction.” In addition to the presentations of the specialist group, joint poster sessions and the evening program provided opportunities for scientific exchange and discussion.
The research groups of Markus Busch and Kristina Zentel were represented at the meeting with contributions focusing on reaction engineering, modeling, and peroxide cocktail design.
Ferel Issa received the Best Poster Award at the conference for her work on the emulsion polymerization of n-butyl acrylate using the initiator VA-057. The study investigated the influence of process parameters on conversion, particle size, particle number, and latex stability. The initiator demonstrates potential as an intrinsic stabilizer for the production of emulsifier-free latexes. The results provide a basis for the validation of kinetic models.
The following presentations and posters were presented:
- A step towards Cocktail Design: Assessment of the Decomposition Kinetics of Peroxide (mixtures) using High-Pressure Calorimetry for LDPE Process Optimization, Michelle Becker, Svenja Albus, Markus Busch (Presentation)
- Investigation of the Influence of Oxygen on the High-Pressure Polymerization of Ethene Using a Reactor Cascade in the Laboratory and in the Model, Joshua Stahl, Lorenz Schmidt, Markus Busch (Presentation)
- Kinetic and Process Analysis of n-Butyl Acrylate Emulsion Polymerization Initiated by VA-057, Ferel Issa, Kristina Zentel (Poster)
