Enhancing Surface Sensitivity in 2D WS₂ Nanowhiskers

2026/08/26

New Publication in Chemistry of Materials! We are excited to share our latest work, where Dr. Nirman Chakraborty and co-workers introduce a new strategy to enhance surface sensitivity in symmetry-broken 2D WS₂ nanowhiskers through field-effect-driven perturbation. By combining chirality-resolved operando spectroscopy with field-effect control, we uncover static hybridization in surface–analyte quasi-states, offering new insights into the molecular origin of NO₂ sensing. This work highlights how external fields can manipulate surface–analyte interactions and opens new avenues for designing highly sensitive, tunable 2D sensing platforms.
