About the position
Prof. Hess’s research group at TU Darmstadt is seeking a research associate (doctoral candidate) specializing in operando catalysis within the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) “Iron, upgraded!”. The aim of this work is to elucidate reaction mechanisms—specifically the active species and sites of iron-based catalysts in selective oxidation reactions—using state-of-the-art operando methods. Mechanistic investigations will employ operando vibrational spectroscopy (IR, Raman) and UV-Vis spectroscopy, including transient conditions; additionally, newly developed coupled operando Raman-XRD and Raman-Mössbauer approaches will be utilized in close collaboration with the research groups of Prof. Ulrike Kramm and Prof. Marc Armbrüster. Candidates should hold a degree in chemistry, physics, or materials science and possess an interest in experimental research, along with experience in (in situ/operando) spectroscopy and heterogeneous catalysis.
