Paper Chemistry and Analytics
With the Rapid-Köthen (RK) hand sheet former paper sheets can be produced in a laboratory scale.
The ColorCube 8580 enables the printing of different waxes onto paper substrates to create microfluidic channels and other wax surfaces.
Desintegrator for pulp and homogenization of pulp suspension.
The estanit desintegrator can be used for pulp desintegration.
The Mathis SP 6513 size press is used to apply (polymer) coatings to paper substrates.
Steel drum dryer
The Formax E-100 steel drum dryer can be used to dry coated paper substrates.
The Sumet rollercoater is used to create coatings with defined thickness on paper substrates. Furtheron the coatings can be dried or hardened via IR.
Drainage Freeness Retention Measurement (DFR)
The DFR is used for characterization of retention systems. Experimental results of retention and drainage are much closer to the real situation of industrial production on a papermachine compared to hand sheet forming. The optical sensor is able to directly measure filtrate consistency, ash consistencies, and thus eliminates time-consuming manual determination of stock.
Zeta Potential Measurement (SZP)
The SZP is used to characterize the surface charge of fiber and fillers. Zeta potential is obtained as streaming potential, conductivity, and the pressure (not from the electrophoresis, like with other instruments). Hence it is possible to characterize direct process samples without further, time-consuming treatment.
Particle Charge Detector (PCD)
The PCD measures the surface charge of dissolved or dispersed colloidal substances by polyelectrolyte titration. It is used to characterize the charge density of additives, detects anionic trash in process samples, and together with the SZP it is a useful tool, for understanding the interaction of fibers, charged additives and filler particles, respectively.
Dry solid content balance
Special balance to analyze the solid content of different dispersions and solutions by heating up the samples until a constant weight is achieved.
Tensile Strength Measurement
Zwick Roell Z1.0 in Climate Chamber (23°C, 50% rel. humidity).
Ultra sonic bar for homogenization of dispersions of both small and large volume samples.
