Working in the Lermyte lab

In the Conformation-Sensitive MS lab, you will learn how to use cutting-edge gas- and solution-phase chemistry to investigate protein sequence, modifications, and higher-order structure. As part of the LOEWE consortium TRABITA, the lab is involved in a range of national and international collaborations, providing a unique opportunity to get involved with medically important applications as well as fundamental physical chemistry and method development.

Funded PhD positions

We are currently not offering any funded PhD student positions. Check back again soon to stay updated, or contact (preferably in English) for informal enquiries.

Master's thesis projects

We are always recruiting interested Master's students to join our lab. A thesis topic will be decided in consultation with the head of the research group. Suggested topics include “native” mass spectrometry of protein-metal complexes and hydrogen/deuterium exchange MS. Or perhaps you'd be interested in building/modifying some of our equipment and investigating the resulting analytical capabilities? We are also interested in the development of MS software, so applicants with coding experience/interest are encouraged to apply.

Please contact directly for informal enquiries or to propose a thesis topic (preferably in English).

Spontaneous applications

We are always happy to consider spontaneous PhD and postdoc applications. A number of funding schemes exist at both the pre- and postdoctoral level for short-term visits or career bridging (including several internal funding programmes offered by TU Darmstadt) as well as for long-term research projects. We can offer support and advice in the preparation of such funding applications.
