Lively participation and poster presentation award at 58. Jahrestreffen Deutscher Katalytiker

2025/03/19

The CRC 1487 “Iron, upgraded!” was once again strongly represented at the 58th Annual Meeting of German Catalysts from March 12-14, 2025 in Weimar. The traditional conference offered a broad mix of interesting talks and posters from the wide-ranging fields of catalysis. Many of the contributions showed that iron plays a role.

Four doctoral students presented their exciting contributions on posters:

Hannah Lamers (Project C05, Prof. Marcus Rose, TUDa) reported on the influence of reaction parameters on the activity of supported iron nanoparticles for selective acetylene hydrogenation. Johannes Pfeiffer (Project A02, Prof. Christian Hess, TUDa) gave insights into the surface activities of iron vandate catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethanol.

Research on the iron molybdate catalyst was represented by two contributions. Jan Welzenbach (Project A02, Prof. Christian Hess, TUDa) reported on surface and bulk activity of iron molybdate catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethanol by operando spectroscopy. Hannah Wilhelm (Project A02, Prof. Barbara Albert, TUDa) and Jan Welzenbach reported on the structural dynamics of iron molybdate catalysts using a combined Raman XRD experiment. Both contributions were promoted with small-scale presentations, with Hannah Wilhelm's talk on the combined experiment being awarded a prize.

All contributions were met with great interest by other researchers from Germany and Europe. The exchange at a conference offers space for many interesting discussions and ideas
