About
FeNCs are promising catalysts to replace Pt/C in fuel cells for the oxygen reduction. A major fraction of activity is attributed to FeN4 moieties in carbon. But the catalyst contains also significant fractions of side phases that might affect performance.
Starting from FeN4 model complexes, project B08 explores how the addition of nanoparticles or clusters (Fe oxide, or Au, Pt) affect the intrinsic and performance data of FeN4 moieties. Therefore, we apply in situ and operando Mössbauer spectroscopy and in collaboration with other CRC projects changes in SEC-EPR, XPS, UPS and XAS.
