Influence of Tetrel Atoms as Ligands on the Optical, Magnetic and Redox behavior of Fe

Project C07 systematically investigates the magnetism and redox behavior of Fe-containing clusters as a function of their chemical composition. The aim is to tune the magnetic moments and the noble character by tailoring iron-tetrel interactions. On the one hand, Fe is considered in a tetrel environment, and on the other hand, the influence of individual tetrel atoms as dopants in defined Fe nanoclusters is investigated. It is expected that magnetic moments and nobleness of Fe-containing clusters can be better tailored by changing the chemical bonding between iron and tetrel atoms.
