First Semester Programme

Getting started in university life!

The first semester programme is aimed at first-year students of the Chemistry Department. In addition to academic orientation, it also offers opportunities to get to know fellow students before the official courses begin and to find their way around the university and the city. During the orientation week, new students are supervised by students from higher semesters, get an insight into university life and can make contacts across semesters.

Pre-course in Mathematics and Orientation Week

In order to make your start into your studies easier, we offer you a maths pre-course to refresh your knowledge and our one-week orientation week in the weeks before the start of the winter semester.

The Maths Pre-Course is designed to refresh your previous knowledge of mathematics to enable you to make the best possible start to your chemistry studies.

During the orientation week (OWO), which takes place directly before the start of the semester, professors, research assistants and students from higher semesters explain everything important about the university and the degree programme. You can find the plan of the orientation week and further information on the page of the student council, your student representation!

All first-year students of the B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Biomolecular Engineering – Molecular Biotechnology, LaG Chemistry and B.Ed. Chemical Engineering are cordially invited to participate in the orientation week and the preliminary mathematics course.

First-year students of the Master's degree programmes in Chemistry and Biomolecular Engineering can of course also take part in the orientation week.

You can find the first semester welcome by the Presidential Board and further information about the start of your studies here.
