On February 4, 2019, Thomas Becker successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Investigation of the Copolymerisation of Ethylene and 1,7-Octadienes under High-Pressure Conditions”.

On 19.12.2018 the graduates of the Department of Chemistry officially received their diplomas.

On 6 December 2018 the annual Santa Claus Coffee of the working group of Prof. Busch took place.

On 3 December 2018 the Christmas party of Professor Busch's research group took place.

On November 26, 2018, Nune Sargsyan successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled “RAFT – Polymerization of styrene in different types of reactors”.

In October 2018 the 68th Canadian Reaction Engineering Conference was held in Toronto.

On September 22, the nationwide Open Day of Chemistry took place. In Darmstadt, Evonik and Merck as well as the Department of Chemistry of the TU Darmstadt invited guests. In the course of the event, Prof. Busch's research group presented the laboratories and everyday tasks in the field of high-pressure polymerization technology to numerous visitors.

On September 14, our working group received two guests from Rayong (Thailand) in the course of a project meeting with SCG. Besides a guided tour of the laboratory and the presentation of the latest project progress, new project tasks for the next months and years were discussed.

On September 4 and 5, our working group was visited by four employees of Braskem. The wide portfolio of Braskem includes numerous chemical and petrochemical products. Furthermore, Braskem stands for sustainability and green chemistry with polymers. During the visit the foundation for a cooperation was laid.

Vom 31. August bis zum 2.September 2018 fand in Prag der mittlerweile 7. Doktorandenworkshop für Polymerreaktionstechnik (WPPRE) der EFCE statt. An dem von der Arbeitsgruppe von Professor Busch organisierten Workshopwochenende nahmen insgesamt 45 Personen aus ganz Europa teil.
