From September 20-23, 2021, the 13th ECCE (European Congress of Chemical Engineering) in combination with the 6th ECAB (European Congress of Applied Biotechnology) entitled “Engineering the Future” was held as an online event organized by DECHEMA.

After the digital group seminar in 2020, the seminar week in 2021 was a successful attempt to implement face-to-face events despite the Corona pandemic. The youth hostel in Speyer was chosen as the venue.

On 10th May 2021, the PhD examination of Jonas Nowottny took place, where he successfully defended his doctoral thesis with the title „High-Pressure Calorimetry: Evaluation of Methods and Measurement of Heat Capacities”.

On 19th April 2021, Sebastian Wilhelm successfully completed his doctoral thesis with the title „High-Pressure Polymerization of Ethene: Kinetic Investigation of Copolymerization and Chain-Transfer Reactions”

Jonas Degenkolb receives the DECHEMA Student Award 2020 with his master thesis on “Numerical Simulation of Injection Processes in Supercritical Media”.

The practical course in technical chemistry under the direction of honorary professor Alfons Drochner was awarded this year's “Athene Preis für gute Lehre” by the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation.

The virtual AIChE Annual Meeting took place from 16 to 20 November 2020. The annual conference organized by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) focuses on innovations in chemical engineering.

On 11 May 2020 the second digital doctoral examination of our research group took place. Sascha Petzold successfully defended his work with the title “Modelling of Industrial Etyhlen-Vinylacetat-Copolymerisations”.

On April 27, 2020, Margarita Balysheva successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Testing catalytic ethylene polymerizations under high pressure conditions”. A premiere in our working group: due to the corona pandemic the examination was carried out digitally.

From 11 to 13 March, an excursion to Vienna took place as part of this year's advanced design project. This excursion with about 20 American guests was also joined by a large part of the research group of Professor Busch. The excursion had about 50 participants in total.
