Paul Peikert successfully defended his doctoral thesis on 14th November 2022, which is entitled “Process-Structure-Properties Relationship of High-Pressure Ethene Copolymerization”.

On 17th October 2022, Ömer Delibalta successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Safety Assessment of Decomposition and Relief Scenarios in the High-Pressure LDPE Process”.

On 11th October 2022, the PhD examination of Robin Dursun took place, where he successfully defended his doctoral thesis with the title „Investigation of the High-Pressure Copolymerization of Ethene and Propargyl Methacrylate and the Click-Reaction on the Polymer”

During ACHEMA 2022, in addition to the numerous exhibitor booths, there was also a congress program highlighting current trends in process technology. As part of this, Professor Busch chaired the session “Polymers from Renewable Carbon Sources for Circular Economy” on August 23.

ACHEMA is the world's largest process industry exhibition for chemical engineering and was held from August 22nd to 26th, 2022 at the Frankfurt exhibition center. The Busch working group also visited the fair to learn about the latest developments in the industry.

This year's seminar week took place in Speyer from August 8th to 12th. With 29 participants, the group was larger than ever before. Current research advances were presented in short lectures and provided a starting point for questions and discussion. The visit to the nearby Technik Museum offered a look beyond the horizon of technical chemistry.

After a break due to the pandemic, the Chemcup – the soccer tournament in the chemistry department – took place again on August 4th. With 12 registered teams, the event was very well received.

From July 18th to 20th, the annual meeting on Reaction Engineering was held together with the ProcessNet Subject Division Heat and Mass Transfer at the Congress Center Würzburg.

In July, ten PhD students of the Busch group participated in a Summer School on High Pressure Technology. This consisted of the two events GEHPT (“Green Engineering by High Pressure Technology”) from July 3rd to July 10th in Maribor and ESS-HPT (“European Summer School in High Pressure Technology”) from July 11th to July 17th in Graz.

From June 19th to 24th the Summer School and Workshop in Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis 2022 took place in Lyon. The workshop enables the exchange of information on a wide variety of thermal analysis methods for the characterisation of materials.
