Prof. Dr. Christina Birkel will synthesize new materials with NSF CAREER award

Assistant Professor Christina Birkel, an inorganic chemist from Arizona State University’s School of Molecular Sciences and Cooperations Professor at the Technische Universität Darmstadt, has earned a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the National Science Foundation. Birkel and her group are diligently working to create new materials that can be used for renewable energy, catalysts and permanent magnets.

ACHEMA Congress Session “Circular Economy”

Prize for best Master's thesis 2021 for M.Sc. Maximilian Pfeiffer

Maximilian Pfeiffer received the prize Vereinigung von Freunden der TU Darmstadt e.V. (Association of Friends of the TU Darmstadt) for his outstanding Master's thesis in the working group of Professor Hess entitled: Investigation of Au-doped SnO2 gas sensors using transient IR spectroscopy.

Doctoral candidate successfull at German Championships

Besides the development of novel approaches for targeted tumor therapy, Peter Bitsch, doctoral candidate in the group of Prof. Kolmar, also fights real opponents performing olympic epee fencing on a professional level. Competing at this year’s German Championships in Berlin during the sports event Finals 2022, he proved himself back at national top levels and ended up at an excellent 3rd place. Congratulations to that bronze medal, we hope for even more!

Projekt „Be with it!“ erhält Franziska-Braun-Preis für Gleichstellung
In Natur- und Technikwissenschaften, in denen zur Energiewende geforscht wird, sind Frauen immer noch marginalisiert. Das Projekt „Be with it!“ will deshalb Schülerinnen und Studentinnen für grüne Berufe und Forschung begeistern. Dafür ist das Vorhaben des Teams Fachdidaktik/Juniorlabor im Fachbereich Chemie der TU Darmstadt gestern (23. Juni) mit dem diesjährigen Franziska-Braun-Preis für Gleichstellung ausgezeichnet worden, der mit 25.000 Euro dotiert ist.

Kristina Zentel received the “Top Downloaded Article” award for her paper “Using a Multiscale Modeling Approach to Correlate Reaction Conditions with Polymer Microstructure and Rheology” from Wiley. This makes the paper one of the most downloaded articles within the first year of publication between 1st January 2019 and 31st December 2020.

Emanuel Merck Lectureship 2022 awarded to John F. Hartwig

Merck and TU Darmstadt named John F. Hartwig, Henry Rapoport Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, as the seventeenth recipient of the Emanuel Merck Lectureship. Hartwig is being recognized for his outstanding work in transition metal catalysis. His achievements in transition metal chemistry have brought the design of molecules and syntheses to a new level – not only in an academic context where almost every total synthesis involves a catalytic transformation, but also for the industrial production of numerous pharmaceuticals.
